Major Shake-Up in Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry, Key Envoys Reassigned

Islamabad (TDI): A major reshuffle has taken place within Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with several key appointments and transfers in diplomatic missions around the world, sources revealed.

According to sources, Shafqat Ali Khan has been appointed as Pakistan’s new ambassador to the United Arab Emirates and has already assumed charge in Abu Dhabi.

Similarly, Faisal Tirmizi has taken charge as Pakistan’s ambassador to Russia, while the former envoy to Moscow, Khalid Khan Jamali, has been posted as Additional Foreign Secretary (Administration).

Meanwhile, Zahid Hussain has been appointed as Director General for the Middle East, replacing Altamash Wazir Khan, who previously served as ambassador to Kyrgyzstan.

Sources added that Hassan Zaigham, the former ambassador to Kyrgyzstan, has now been posted as Director General for Central Asia, while Bilal Chaudhry has been appointed as Director General for South Asia, replacing Elias Nizami, who had been nominated as Pakistan’s ambassador to Romania.

According to diplomatic sources, these appointments are aimed at strengthening Pakistan’s diplomatic structure and ensuring more effective representation abroad.
