Overview of maiden edition of PIMEC

The main objective of the PIMEC is to highlight Pakistan’s potential for a blue economy and provide opportunities to the maritime industry both in the public and private sectors to display products at a single forum.

The three days event includes maritime exhibitions, business-to-business, and business-to-government meetings, signing of Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs), and media interactions.

The event will also provide a platform for interaction with the international maritime industry for joint ventures, transfer of technology, and research to underscore the importance of Pakistan’s maritime and defense industries.

Admiral of the Pakistan Navy, Zakirullah Jan expressed his views regarding the event. He stated, “The maritime sector is the heart of global trade and economy. The existing value of the global ocean economy is expected to double in size by the year 2030.

It can, therefore, be construed that prosperity of a nation and economic growth is to a greater extent facilitated by the maritime sector.”

The Pakistan Navy (PN), with the coordination of the Ministry of Maritime Affairs (MoMA), brought national and international stakeholders to enhance awareness of the maritime sector of Pakistan.

The PN-MoMA joint initiative of holding the first PIMEC will bolster Pakistan’s blue economy. PIMEC will become the harbinger of the socio-economic development of the country’s coastal belt.

It is pertinent to note that PIMEC will increase opportunities for local exhibitors to interact with delegates of visiting navies.
