M360 Eurasia 2024 Conference held in Baku

Baku, 16 May 2024 (TDI):  The international GSMA M360 Eurasia 2024 conference held in Baku came to an end on Thursday. The conference aimed to foster the International  Telecommunication Union (ITU) and drive technological innovation across the Eurasian region.

The event attracted leading experts, regulators, executives from mobile operators, IT corporations from across the region, prominent politicians, and other key participants.

The conference was organized with the backing of the Ministry of Digital Development and Transportation of Azerbaijan, with Azercell serving as the main sponsor.

M360 Eurasia 2024 Conference was held in Baku and on the final day, participants focused on the upcoming wave of digital transformation aimed at fostering a more sustainable and inclusive digital future across the Eurasian region.

With COP29 approaching, discussions highlighted the intersection of digitalization and climate change mitigation efforts.

In an address to the attendees, the UN Resident Coordinator in Azerbaijan, Vladanka Andreeva, emphasized the significant expectations for COP29.

“We anticipate substantial outcomes from COP29, including the establishment of a new collective financial target for the 195 participating countries and the adoption of transparency reports detailing progress in reducing greenhouse gas emissions,” she stated.

She further noted that COP29, through collaboration with the government, private sector, and scientific community, will empower Azerbaijan to enhance its climate goals and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030.

Director of the Department of Law, Ethics, and Compliance at Azercell, Shirin Aliyeva, said that a total of 37 Azercell stations in Azerbaijan will employ green energy.

“Currently, Azercell has 15 stations operating on alternative energy sources in the liberated territories of Azerbaijan, and we are continuing to work on this.”

“At the forum, special attention was paid to optimizing cargo transportation processes and logistics in the region, including the TITR. The Secretary General of the TITR International Association, Gaidar Abdikerimov, presented current information about the TITR route and the prospects for developing this Middle Corridor,” the association’s statement said.
