Llyod Austin III en route to meet Gulf partners


Washington, 6 September 2021 (TDI): The US Secretary of Defense Llyold J. Austin III left Washington on September 6 to visit America’s Gulf partners and thank them for supporting the United States’ evacuation efforts in Kabul.

The Defense Secretary also showed gratitude towards the Gulf allies for helping America save multiple lives through the ‘Operation Allies Refuge.’

Following the end of America’s twenty-year war in Afghanistan, many Afghans and American citizens residing in the country have been displaced and exposed to one of the worst humanitarian crises amid the Taliban takeover, for which the United States of America has been making considerable efforts to safely transit the affectees from Kabul, with the help of its foreign allies.
