Vilnius, 23 September 2021 (TDI): Lithuania Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis had a meeting with Australia’s Foreign Minister Marise Payne this Tuesday, on September 21.
The two ministers discussed the development of their bilateral relations, regional and global security.
Landsbergis emphasized the cooperation between the two democratic states to continue standing united and strengthen the Western alliance. Lithuania and Australia also share the challenges present in the Indo-Pacific region. Lithuania sought its increased involvement in the area.
Despite the pandemic, the two sides hoped to be more active and diverse in their areas of cooperation. Focusing on shared economic and security challenges and bilateral economic and scientific relations, Landsbergis said.
Lithuania recently opened its embassy in Australia last year 2020. The country also plans to establish its representation in South Korea and open its Embassy in Singapore next year, 2022.
