Kurdish Prime Minister Masrour Barzani Addressing to AC Energy Forum: Iraqi Kurdistan’s Capacity to Assist Europe

Dubai, 28 March 2022 (TDI): Kurdish Prime Minister Masrour Barzani stated that the Kurdish region of northern Iraq has the capacity to make up for at least some of the energy shortfall in Europe.

Prime Minister Barzani revealed during the industry conference (AC Energy Forum) in Dubai that Kurdistan would soon become an important source of energy.

Further, he believes that Kurdistan will soon become a significant source of energy to meet the world’s expanding needs. In the near future, they will become a major exporter of gas to the rest of Iraq, Turkey, and Europe.

Additionally, he added that the Kurdistan government remains committed to the deals it has made with oil and gas partners and is ready to assist other nations in the region.

The Kurdish autonomous region’s huge untouched oil reserves, lucrative production-sharing contracts, and safe environment have enticed international oil companies over recent years to invest billions of dollars there.

The Kurdish regional government (KRG) has been developing oil and gas resources. In a meeting with Qatar’s Minister of State for Energy Affairs namely Saad al-Kaabi, the Kurdish Prime Minister Barzani stated that last month, he has explored the “huge gas potential” of Kurdistan.

Along these lines, he told that he had talks with the federal government of Iraq, Turkey, and the Gulf states about a regional railway network.

In this regard, he believes that this could be transformational for Iraq and the region, creating new trade routes and another window for regional cooperation.

Furthermore, he also discussed the regional trade routes, energy security, and opportunities in roads, dams, as well as infrastructure.
