KP Convenes First Chambers of Commerce Conference

Peshawar (TDI): Yerzhan Kistafin, Kazakhstan’s Ambassador to Pakistan, was invited as the guest of honor at the First Conference of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), held at the Governor House, on Tuesday.

The conference was organized by KP’s Governor Faisal Karim Kundi, where stakeholders came together to discuss proposals to boost regional trade, especially with the Central Asian countries.

The conference underlined the province’s role as a gateway connecting South and Central Asia.

In his address, Ambassador Kistafin highlighted economic cooperation within the region and said that Kazakhstan is willing to enhance trade cooperation with Pakistan.

Other noteworthy presences at the conference included Ambassador Shafizoda Saidjon of Tajikistan, Ali Benafshe Khah of Iran, Hafiz Mohib Ullah of Afghanistan, and Bakhrom Yusupov of Uzbekistan.

Trade officials and business leaders, including Noman Bashir of the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP), Syed Jawad Hussain Kazmi of the Kohat Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and S.M. Tanveer of the United Business Group, were also present.

Participants emphasized the need for policy changes and greater coordination in the private sector to increase export quantity. They also discussed KP’s geography, improved security, and its potential as a regional trade hub.

The conference focused on removing trade barriers, simplifying customs, and constructing transport corridors to allow freer cross-border trade. With renewed foreign interest and increased regional engagement, KP province is enhancing its efforts to connect Pakistan with the markets of Central Asia.
