Korean Embassy to Host ‘2024 Korea Week’ in Islamabad

Islamabad, 3 September 2024 (TDI): The Embassy of the Republic of Korea in collaboration with the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting is set to host the “2024 Korea Week” from October 22 to 27 in Islamabad.

The Korean Ambassador Park Ki Jun announced this at a media briefing at his residence in Islamabad.

Speaking on the occasion, the ambassador said he was working to fortify Pakistan-Korea relations. He said the Embassy was putting heart and soul into preparation for the event.

The ambassador said the four-day gala would be open to the public to attract large audiences and provide a vibrant cultural exchange experience.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Director General Ms. Raisa Adil shed light on cordial relationships between Pakistan and Korea, and how the Korean pop culture had influenced Pakistani youth.

She assured the ministry’s full cooperation in making the event successful.

2024 Korea Week Schedule

The event will be held at the Liaquat Gymnasium, Islamabad from Tuesday, October 22 to Sunday, October 27. It includes the “Korean National and Armed Forces Day Reception,” “Korea-Pakistan Cultural Gala” at Liaquat Gymnasium, “Korea-Pakistan Movie Day” at PNCA, and “Korean Ambassador’s Cup National Taekwondo Championship” at Liaquat Gymnasium Islamabad.

2024 Korea week schedule

Here are further details of the event calendar:

Day 1: Korean National and Armed Forces Day Reception

On the first day of the gala, the embassy will celebrate “Korean National Day and Armed Forces Day Reception.” The event will commence with national anthems of both countries followed by remarks from the Korean ambassador and the Chief Guest.

Then, there will be special Taekwondo performances by the Kukkiwon Demonstration Team, Korean Classic by vocalist Ms. Hee Min Kim and, B-Boying by FusionMC.

Day 2: Korea-Pakistan Cultural Gala

The second day will be dedicated to the “Korea-Pakistan Cultural Gala”. The event will begin with opening remarks by H.E. Ambassador Park Ki Jun and the Chief Guest.

In the second half, the Taekwondo teams of Pakistan and Korea will demonstrate the unity of the cultures through Martial Arts Mastery.

Then, there will be soulful performances by Pakistan’s folk band Khumariyaan, a folk-dance performance by PNCA’s National Performing Arts Group, and a B-Boying performance by FusionMC.

The event will see a touch of pop music with collaborative performances from popular pop singer Uzair Jaswal and Korea’s classical vocalist Ms. Hee Min Kim.

Day 3: Korea-Pakistan Movie Day

The “Korea-Pakistan Movie Day” is a three-day event, which will run from October 24 to 27 at the Pakistan National Council of Arts (PNCA). Korean movies “Ode to My Father”, and the Himalayas, while Pakistani movies “Superstar” and “Nayab” will be on display.

Day 4: Korean Ambassador’s Cup National Taekwondo Championship

The event will witness opening remarks from the Ambassador of Korea and the Chief Guest President of the Pakistan Taekwondo Federation Colonel Waseem Ahmed Janjua and cultural performances of Gatta Ghora and Camel Dance by Multan Folk Party.
