Manila, 24 December 2021 (TDI): Korean Ambassador to Philippines Kim In-Chul met with Cabinet Secretary of Philippines Teddy Locsin Jr on Wednesday.

The meeting was held in the Department of Foreign Affairs Philippines Yesterday.

During the meeting, Ambassador Kin in-Chul also pledged a donation for the Philippines. The Republic of Korea has donated USD 2M cash to the Philippines. Moreover, The cash donation came as assistance in the aftermath of Typhoon Odette.

Earlier, Ambassador Kin was allocated in the Philippines in February this year.

The meeting also allowed Ambassador to offer a provision of in-kind emergency assistance to the country. The Embassy is ready to assist worth USD 50,000. The additional assistance will be provided in the form of 2,500 units of 25kg sacks or 62.5 tons of rice to the Department of Social Welfare and Development.

DSWD is the executive department of the Philippine Government. It is responsible for the protection of the social welfare of rights of Filipinos accordingly. Moreover, the department promotes social development in the Philippines.

Super Typhoon Rai

The Philippines is facing severe destruction by Super Typhoon Rai locally known as Odette. An estimated idea noted almost 375 people have died of this calamity in the Philippines.

Philippine Red Cross is working diligently to provide relief in destructed areas. Moreover, The United States has also been assisting the Philippines through the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). Its immediate assistance contains $200,000 to support people affected by Super Typhoon Rai in the Philippines.

USAID is also collaborating with Action Against Hunger to provide food, water, hygiene supplies, and other relief items in Surigao del Norte and Dinagat Island in the Caraga region.
