Kohat, 6 August 2024 (TDI): An OGDCL-led consortium hit a big oil and gas reserves discovery in Kohat Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The Razgir-1 formation in Kohat, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province, has revealed potential deposits that might greatly bolster Pakistan’s energy supplies. This is a huge oil and gas reserve.
The well is presently producing about 159 barrels of oil and 16.4 million standard cubic feet of gas per day, according to the Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL).
Drilling activities are scheduled to begin in January 2024, and the discovery is the outcome of a cooperative effort by OGDCL, Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL), and Pakistan Oilfields Limited.
The area’s potential as a rich source of energy is further highlighted by this latest discovery, which comes after another fruitful discovery in the Tal Block last month. In order to meet Pakistan’s energy needs, the Tal Block is strategically important, as demonstrated by the joint venture’s ongoing successful exploration efforts.
Due to the possible economic advantages and the improvement in the nation’s energy security, OGDCL notified the government and the Pakistan Stock Exchange of this development in a timely manner.
Expected to increase Pakistan’s local energy production and lessen dependency on foreign fuels, the statement has been greeted with hope.
