This is a much-awaited meeting between the Presidents of both countries after their recent negotiations about a bilateral free trade agreement in July 2020. President of Kenya, Uhuru Kenyatta held phone conversations with Joe Biden on 20 January 2021. Presidents of both countries will discuss important matters of bilateral trade agreements, peace, security, and climate change handling.
America and Kenya have been enjoying friendly relations since Kenya’s Independence from the United Kingdom. At the heart of these relations are the interests of both countries in mutual trade and strategic partnerships. Kenya is the biggest hub for financial investment, business, and transportation in South Africa. The free trade agreement initiation between Kenya and America is unique and is predicting a positive way forward between countries. The meeting holds much significance for both countries for their trade, security, and peace strategies. This is the first in-person meeting of President Joe Biden with Kenyan President since Joe Biden held office.
