Astana (TDI): Kazakh citizens residing in 61 countries will have the opportunity to cast their votes in the upcoming referendum on constructing nuclear power plants, according to the Secretary of Kazakhstan’s Central Election Commission, Mukhtar Erman.

A total of 76 polling stations have been set up abroad, with one station in Lebanon closed due to the volatile situation there.

Speaking at a briefing, Erman emphasized that all voting procedures, including the opening of polling stations, counting of votes, and transfer of information, will be conducted in strict accordance with Kazakhstan’s legal framework.

“Given the full-scale hostilities in Lebanon, we cannot jeopardize the safety of our citizens. Thus, we have decided not to open the polling station there,” Erman said.
