Kazakhstan to Host International ‘Abai Readings’ Contest

Astana (TDI): In a landmark cultural event marking the 180th anniversary of the great Kazakh poet, thinker, and educator Abai Kunanbayuly, Kazakhstan is set to host the XXVI Republican Creative Contest “Abai Readings” in an international format in 2025.

The contest scheduled to take place from June 18 to 21 in Semey city, Abai Region, aims to celebrate and promote the literary and spiritual heritage of Abai, inspiring a new generation of students both within Kazakhstan and across Kazakh communities abroad.

Open to Students in grades 8 to 11(12) from Kazakh schools worldwide, the competition encourages participation from talented youth who have excelled in regional and local qualifying stages.

Each participating delegations may include up to five contestants across different nominations, guided by a team leader.

The prestigious event not only honors Abai’s enduring legacy but also seeks to nurture a deeper appreciation for classical Kazakh literature, festering cultural pride and intellectual growth among young learners on an international scale.
