KTZ is currently assessing the feasibility of expanding its terminal capacity at Georgia’s Anaklia port, a key strategic move aimed at accommodating the growing volume of cargo traffic along TITR.
The expansion is still at the development stage, with preliminary assessments underway to determine project parameters, budget requirements, and potential investors.
The acquisition of terminal equipment will be considered once construction plans are finalized.
The increasing importance of the Trans-Caspian corridor has driven this initiative.
Anaklia Terminal ProjectIn 2024, cargo transportation along TITR saw a record-breaking 28-fold increase compared to the previous year. According to PwC forecasts, container traffic on the route could reach 287,000 TEU by 2030, highlighting the need for expanded terminal facilities.
Kazakhstan and Georgia see the Anaklia project as a crucial step in enhancing connectivity between Asia and Europe. The planned terminal will facilitate smoother cargo handling and strengthen Kazakhstan’s position as a major transit hub in regional trade.
Both countries reaffirmed their commitment to deepening transport cooperation, with KTZ playing a central role in advancing digital and logistical solutions for future trade expansion.
