Kazakhstan, China Ink $1B Agriculture Export Deals

Beijing (TDI): Kazakhstan and China have solidified their agricultural trade ties with the signing of $1 billion in new export agreements during recent negotiations held in Beijing.

Among the deals is a $100 million contract for the export of Kazakh poultry products.

Kazakhstan’s Agriculture Minister, Aidarbek Saparov, highlighted that the country’s key agricultural exports to China include grain, oilseeds, and vegetable oil, with grain remaining the cornerstone of this trade relationship.

Kazakhstan, China Trade in 2023

In 2023, Kazakhstan’s grain exports to China saw a 5.5-fold increase, reaching 1.4 million tons.

Between January and September 2024, 1.1 million tons were exported.

The two nations have also agreed to boost annual grain exports to 2 million tons in the near future.

Kazakhstan has extended an invitation to Chinese investors for collaboration in its agro-industrial sector, particularly in the production of organic goods.

These premium products are gaining traction in global markets for their higher value.

The country is also focusing on increasing the export of quality livestock products, including beef, lamb, poultry, canned meat, dairy, and honey.

Kazakhstan’s Agriculture Ministry reports an annual production of agricultural goods worth $20 billion.

Over the past five years, agricultural exports have nearly doubled, reaching $5.4 billion.

Officials anticipate this figure will rise to $10 billion within the next five years, underpinned by increasing trade with China.
