Astana, 12 September 2024 (TDI): In a significant development for its agricultural sector, Kazakhstan is enhancing its machinery production capabilities through a new collaboration with China’s Zoomlion Agriculture Machinery Co., Ltd.
The partnership with local firm QazTehna will see the manufacturing of tractors at a new facility in Saran, Karaganda region, with an annual production target of up to 700 units.
The Kazakh Ministry of Industry and Construction has highlighted the importance of this initiative, given Kazakhstan’s status as one of the world’s largest grain producers, cultivating over 24 million hectares.
This vast area necessitates a substantial and modern fleet of agricultural machinery.

The Ministry of Agriculture reports that while the country operates 149,800 tractors, many are significantly worn out.
Despite these challenges, Kazakhstan’s domestic manufacturing sector is meeting demand effectively. Over 80% of the tractors and combines purchased in recent years are produced locally. The country boasts eight manufacturing plants producing more than ten brands and 120 models of tractors, ranging from 11 to 575 horsepower.
