Kazakhstan Appoints Yerkin Tukumov as Ambassador to Pakistan

Islamabad (TDI): Kazakhstan has appointed Yerkin Tukumov as its ambassador to Pakistan, bringing a wealth of experience in foreign policy, strategic research and regional security to the role.

Born on July 2, 1973, Tukumov has held several senior positions in Kazakhstan’s government, diplomatic service and strategic research institutions, including serving as director of the Kazakhstan Institute for Strategic Studies under the President of Kazakhstan.

He graduated from the Institute of International Relations at the University of Warsaw in Poland in 1997 and completed studies at Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government in 2016. He also holds a PhD in political science and has proficiency in Polish and English.

Tukumov began his professional career in 1997 as a senior researcher at the Kazakhstan Institute for Strategic Studies, a government-affiliated institution focused on strategic analysis and policy research.

Between 2000 and 2005, he served as chief researcher and head of the institute’s Department of Foreign Policy and International Relations. He subsequently directed the Central Asian Fund for the Development of Democracy from 2005 to 2007.
