Islamabad, 25 August 2021 (TDI): Joint military Exercise “Dostarym III” begins in Pabbi, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa this morning at the National Counter-Terrorism Center. The official ceremony was attended by senior officials from both sides. ISPR has released a statement on these important joint exercises mentioning that the aim is to develop and bolster coordination between two armies in the counter-terrorism domain. Special forces of both countries are participating in the drills and procedures. These exercises are focusing on based on the biennial exercise mechanism between the two armed professionals. It is to note that earlier the joint exercises were held in 2017, second in 2019 in Kazakhstan, and now in 2021 in Pakistan again.
Both Pakistan and Kazakhstan are permanent members of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) where the major aim is to counter extremism, terrorism, and separatism. SCO has also a mechanism for joint military exercise at the multilateral level along with a Regional Anti-Terrorism Structure (RATS) in Uzbekistan.
