Beijing, 7 February 2022 (TDI): Kamila Valieva, the ROC athlete, has made history at Beijing Winter Olympics 2022. She has become the first woman to land quadruple in figure skating due to which Russia’s team has won the second gold in Olympics.

She is just fifteen years old and holds records in free skating, short program, and total score. Her teammate Nikita Katsalapov remarked that one can find all the powerful and best qualities of a figure skater in this fragile Olympian.

Early Life Journey

Kamila Valieva was born in Kazan on 26 April 2006. She is currently living in Moscow. Her hobbies include drawing and dancing. She is also fond of her Dog Liova.

Furthermore, She is a high school student and speaks the Russian language only. From Kazan, she moved to Moscow with her mother. At first, her training started in the Moskvich school. Then, in 2008, she joined the Tutberidze school to pursue her career in skating.

Her club name is Sambo 70 Khrustalnyi. As far as her profession is concerned, coaches play a vital role in an athlete’s life. Thus, her coaches include Eteri Tutberidze, Daniil Gleikhenguaz, Sergei Dudakov, and George Pochiliouk.

She made her debut in Single skating during the 2021 Finlandia Trophy. This amazing performance led her to the victory parade at Beijing Winter Olympics 2022. Moreover, her choreographers were Eteri Tutberidze and Daniil Gleikhenguaz.

However, in 2019, she got a foot injury due to which she didn’t practice skating for a few weeks. In the same year, she became part of the Russian National Team. As a child, Kamila practiced gymnastics, ballet, and skating. But, her favorite game is skating. She said in this regard;

“Gliding on the ice and the speed is awesome. Gymnastics was a bit painful and in ballet, you do some exercise, the slow music, I somehow fell asleep.”

She further reiterated that her main ambition is to let people enjoy the performances aesthetically. Accordingly, every performance is a kind of complete program which is brought across the character.

As far as training is concerned, she performs with a very competitive group. It includes champion Anna Shcherbakova and Alexandra Trusova. Shcherbakova is a world champion whereas Trusova is a world bronze medallist.

She has also won the world junior title in 2020. This is her memorable event of life. During that event, she landed triple Axel, quadruple Salchow, and the Quadruple toeloop.In this matter, her coach, Eteri Tutberidze, is the hero of her life.

The philosophy of her life is; “If I set myself upright, then no one can throw me off or change my mindset in any way. So I think it’s just me.” According to her, every athlete should work a lot. This is the only way to perform amazingly in a competition.

Milestones of her Journey

The journey of Kamila Valera is full of breathtaking performances. This includes the 2022 European Championship and 2020 World Junior Championship.

In particular, she has set records of having the highest score in women’s skating at the European Championship 2022 and Grand Prix Rostelecom Cup 2021.

She also ranked first in the single skating competition of the Junior Grand Prix Courchevel 2019. It was her international junior debut at skating.
