In her tweet, she highlighted the bravery and courage of those who fought in the battle and acknowledged the contributions of Mexican-Americans throughout the nation’s history.
Harris believes that the holiday is not only about celebrating the victory of the Battle of Puebla but also a time to reflect on the immense impact that Mexican-Americans have had on the nation’s history.
The Biden-Harris administration recognizes Mexican-Americans’ contributions to arts, culture, politics, and business and their significant role in shaping the nation’s identity.

Cinco de Mayo is a day celebrated annually on May 5th to commemorate the Mexican army’s victory over the French army in the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862.
