Jordan, Iraq, Egypt Warn Israeli Strikes in Syria Threaten Regional Stability

Amman (TDI): Jordan, Iraq and Egypt slammed the Israeli airstrikes that targeted Syria this week, stating that these attacks are a blatant violation of sovereignty and international law.

Israel hit Syrian forces and military vehicles as they approached the southern city of Sweida on Tuesday to restore stability after deadly clashes started in the region between the Druze sect and Bedouin tribes this week.

The move followed deadly clashes between Druze communities and Bedouin tribes in the area.

A day later, Israeli missiles hit a Syrian military facility in Damascus. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yoav Gallant claimed the strikes were aimed at protecting the Druze population in Sweida, where most of the sect resides.

Jordan’s foreign ministry denounced the attacks as a “dangerous escalation.” Spokesman Sufyan Qudah urged Israel to stop its strikes immediately, stressing that Syria’s security is key to overall regional peace.

Iraq’s foreign ministry issued a similar statement, condemning what it called “repeated military aggressions” by Israel. It labeled the strikes a clear violation of international law and warned of the risks they pose to regional stability.

Egypt also voiced concern, criticizing Israel’s air raids in both Syria and Lebanon. Cairo warned that such moves only deepen tensions and could push the region toward broader conflict.

Meanwhile, Israeli warplanes struck Lebanon’s eastern Bekaa Valley on Tuesday. According to Lebanese officials, 12 people were killed. Israel claimed the operation targeted Hezbollah fighters in the area.
