Islamabad, 5 October 2021 (TDI): The National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC) hosted the Joint Anti-Terrorist Exercise (JATE) from September 21 to October 4, 2021.
The JATE was a joint initiative of the members of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).
JATE was the first military exercise which took place in Pakistan. This decision was made during the Council of Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure (RATS) 36th meeting in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
The first phase of exercise took place in the respective SCO member countries from 26-31 July. The second phase of exercise was conducted at NCTC from 21 September to 4 October.
The Chief Guest at the closing ceremony was Lt General Shaheen Mazher Mehmood, Commander Central Command.
The exercise aimed to strengthen cooperation on combating the threat of terrorism. It focused on sharing the experiences of capacity building as well as the innovative methods of new technologies.
