Paris, 9 August 2024 (TDI): Pakistan’s javelin star Arshad Nadeem on Friday received a gold medal for his remarkable performance in the men’s javelin throw final at the Paris Olympics 2024.
Arshad set a new Olympic record with a throw of 92.97 metres in the men’s javelin throw final at the Paris Olympics on Thursday, clinching Pakistan’s first Olympic Gold in 40 years.

The star athlete landed two 90-meter-plus throws in his six attempts, shattering his personal-best record of 90.18m, and leaving behind defending champion India’s Neeraj Chopra who won the silver with an 89-metre throw. Grenada’s Anderson Peters received a bronze for his third podium finish.
First Olympic Medal in 32 Years
This is Pakistan’s first individual gold and fourth overall at the Games since 1948. The country’s last medal came in 1992 when the national hockey team secured a bronze in Barcelona.

Arshad’s gold brings Pakistan’s total Olympic medal count to 11, including four golds, as many bronzes, and three silvers. Of these, only three were won by individual athletes, while the national hockey team claimed the remaining eight, including three golds.
