Islamabad, 21 September 2021 (TDI): The third worldwide campaign of anti-polio is taking place in this year of 2021. About 40 million children of about five years will get vaccinated in this campaign.
This year the ratio of Polio in Pakistan is much better than that of last year as this year. Only one case has yet been reported of wild poliovirus while last year about 75 cases were reported.
The ambassador of Japan, MATSUDA Kuninori, highly appreciated the sincere efforts of the people of Pakistan and the government due to which the cases of polio declined drastically in Pakistan this year.
The Ambassador also showed respect towards the polio workers who were actively participating in the door-to-door vaccination during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Japan has been a supporter of Pakistan in eradicating polio since 1996 and now the total amount has reached $229 million. Ambassador MATSUDA further said, “I am encouraged by the signs of polio eradication in Pakistan. Japan will continue to support Pakistan’s efforts”.
