Japan hands over 17 patrolling motorboats to Kenya on World Maritime Day

Mombasa, 30 September 2021 (TDI): The Embassy of Japan in Kenya, on 30 September 2021, celebrating World Maritime Day, handed over seventeen patrol motorboats to the Kenyan Maritime Patrol Unit in Mombasa.

During the ceremony, along with Kenyan Maritime Patrolling officials, the Japanese Ambassador to Kenya, Horie Ryoichi witnessed the handing over ceremony of the maritime patrolling boats to the Kenyan patrol unit. The boats were provided to the Kenyan Patrol unit under the Grant Assistant Project of the Japanese government for the Kenyan government.

Also, by providing these maritime patrolling boats, Japan wants to enhance the maritime security of Kenya to protect the country against any sort of maritime threat. The presence of the Japanese Ambassador paints a good image of friendly bilateral relations between Kenya and Japan.
