Jack Doohan Gets Full-Time Alpine Seat Starting In 2025

England, 24 August 2024 (TDI): In 2025, Jack Doohan, an Australian, will join Alpine’s Formula 1 team as a reserve driver after receiving a promotion.

The Frenchman Pierre Gasly, who has competed for Alpine since 2023, will be the 21-year-old partner of five-time MotoGP champion Mick Doohan.

Doohan takes over for Frenchman Esteban Ocon, who transferred to Haas after their separation announcement from Alpine.

Jack Doohan will be the first driver to graduate from the Alpine academy into a racing driver position with the team, so that is really pleasing for the team and its young driver pathway, according to Alpine team principal Oliver Oakes, who has only been in his job for a little over a month.

When Doohan competed in two Asian Formula 3 series in 2019, Oaskes was the team manager for HiTech.

“I have personally been working with Jack from 2019 onward, and I am fully aware of his untapped talent and potential,” Oakes stated.

“The entire crew greatly appreciates his dedication and hard work behind the scenes. We have a strong driver lineup that includes Pierre and strikes a nice mix between youth, experience, and raw speed.”

According to Jack Doohan, it was “a proud day for my family.”

“I am really appreciative of the senior management of the team’s faith and confidence in me. I will do my best in the interim to take in as much information and knowledge as I can to be ready for the move up since there is a ton of work ahead of me to be ready and prepared.”

Oakes’ appointment is just the most recent illustration of the turbulence in Alpine’s senior management that has been going on for the past year.

The chaos that has been occurring in Alpine’s senior management over the past year is demonstrated by Oakes’ appointment, which is merely the latest example.

During that time, the team has also lost a number of other key players who either decided to leave or were fired.

With the appointment of executive adviser Flavio Briatore earlier this year, the 74-year-old Italian is now the de facto leader of the Renault team.

Briatore has suggested that the Renault F1 engine program be discontinued and that the team become a Mercedes customer. Official confirmation of this decision is still pending.
