IYDS Participants Explore Philippines-Pakistan Collaboration During Embassy Visit

Islamabad (TDI): On the final day of the International Young Diplomats School (IYDS), the participants visited the Embassy of the Philippines as their third stop of the day, where they were received by the Charge d’Affairs of the Embassy.

During the interactive session, the discussion explored the Philippines–Pakistan bilateral relationship and opportunities for cooperation. Participants also learned about avenues for collaboration in education, tourism, people-to-people exchanges, and emerging sectors.

The participants were keen to know about the outreach of the embassy in Pakistan, the public diplomacy initiatives, and the cultural exchange the Thai mission is facilitating between the two countries.

This visit contributed to wrapping up three days of intensive diplomatic exposure and learning. Organized by the Institute of Peace and Diplomatic Studies (IPDS), IYDS is an annual school of diplomacy which harnesses aspiring diplomats with a direct exposure to how diplomacy is practiced.

Throughout the program, young professionals, students, and faculty members from across Pakistan engaged with ambassadors, diplomats, and representatives of international organizations.

As the school kickstarted on Tuesday, the participants visited the embassies of AustriaRussiaZimbabwe, and Nepal, in addition to visiting the office of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).

The next day began with a visit to the Embassy of Kazakhstan, where the Ambassador briefed them on the recent history of Pakistan-Kazakhstan relations and how both countries aspire to take the partnership forward.

Afterwards, the cohort visited the office of the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) and the International Labor Organization’s (ILO) secretariat, before making the final stop of the day at the High Commission of Mauritius.

IYDS offers a unique bridge between academic study and diplomatic practice, equipping emerging leaders with practical insights and networks that extend beyond traditional classroom settings.

Organized by the Institute of Peace and Diplomatic Studies (IPDS), it supports public diplomacy outreach of the diplomatic missions of various countries based in Pakistan. This program allows embassies to interact with Pakistani professionals and young students from various regions of the country and vice versa.
