Islamabad, 16 August 2022 (TDI): Ambassador of Romania to Pakistan, Nicolae Goia hosted the Participants of the International Young Diplomats School (IYDS) on the first day of the program, in the Embassy of Romania in Islamabad. A briefing session was held on the topic of the relationship between Pakistan and Romania.
The Ambassador explained that according to the world’s Gross Domestic Product, Romania is presently a medium-to-high income exporting economy, ranking 41 (GDP).
Being a member of the European Union, Romania was a steadfast backer of Pakistan when it came to granting it the GSP Plus status, which is another reason why Romania is significant to Pakistan. This device has led to an increase in Pakistani exports to the EU of more than 30%.

Regarding relations between Pakistan and Romania, the Ambassador said that since diplomatic ties were established in 1964, they have helped to bring the two countries closer together.
One example is Romania’s support for Pakistan in 2011 when it applied for membership in the Security Council. According to him, the economic aspect of the relationship between Pakistan and Romania is much less pleasant than the political aspect and needs to be improved.
The Foreign Ministers of the two countries also met in Davos. Both nations have positive ties in the cultural sphere. Almost 200 Pakistani students are presently studying in Romania and receiving training as engineers, physicians, IT specialists, and businesspeople. HEC and COMSTECH are offering scholarship to students of Bachelors, MS and PhD degree.

He said while talking to the participants that Pakistan is an important country for Romania and that as an Ambassador he felt safe in Pakistan. He also shared the history of his country during the session.
The Ambassador congratulated the organizers for hosting this important public diplomacy school and would like to commend them for their tireless efforts to make this program possible.
