Islamabad (TDI): The Embassy of Nepal in Pakistan hosted the participants of the 6th International Young Diplomats School (IYDS) for the final session of the first day. The three-day school has been organized by the Institute of Peace and Diplomatic Studies (IPDS).

The Nepal Embassy visit featured an engaging interactive discussion with Rita Dhital, the Ambassador of Nepal to Pakistan. She shared valuable perspectives on Nepal’s longstanding ties with Pakistan and the potential for enhanced cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

The participants, hailing from diverse backgrounds and regions of Pakistan, appreciated the opportunity to hear directly from the Nepalese ambassador on various facets of the bilateral relation as well as Nepal’s own history, culture, and politics.

As part of the 6th edition of IYDS, the visit to the Embassy of Nepal further strengthened the program’s mission of connecting Pakistan’s youth with diplomatic missions from around the world.

Bringing together young professionals, students, and faculty from diverse backgrounds, IYDS offers a dynamic public diplomacy platform that encourages dialogue, learning, and international engagement.

Through these interactions, participants broaden their understanding of global affairs while fostering meaningful people-to-people linkages with partner countries.

The three day school runs under the theme “Building Network of Future Leaders through Public Diplomacy,” and offers an opportunity for students of International Relations (IR) and mid-career professionals to get a direct exposure to the world of diplomacy.

As the school kicked off on Tuesday, the participants arrived at the Austrian Embassy for an inaugural session, which was followed by an insightful interaction with the ambassador of Zimbabwe to Pakistan, Titus M. J. Abu Basutu, at the country’s embassy.

The ambassador shared lesser-known information on the history and culture of Zimbabwe. For their third stop the day, the participants arrived at the Russian Embassy in Islamabad, and were guided through a visual timeline of Pakistan-Russia relations.

Before heading to the Embassy of Nepal, the group made a stop at the office of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), where country representatives and UN officials interacted with the participants and briefed them on UNDP’s work in the country.

The International Young Diplomats School has gained popularity over the years as students and professionals from all over Pakistan apply and aspire to be a part of the yearly cohort.
