According to the statement by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), both officers discussed matters pertaining to regional security, mutual interests, and enhanced military cooperation in the field of training and counterterrorism domain.
General Bajwa mentioned that Pakistan values its relations with Italy and earnestly looks forward to enhancing mutually beneficial multi-domain relations and forging strong defense cooperation based on common interests.
The honorary guest commended the professionalism of the Pakistan Armed Forces and acknowledged their sacrifices in the fight against terrorism.
In addition, he appreciated Pakistan’s role in regional stability and pledged to play its role in further improvement in diplomatic cooperation with Pakistan at all levels.
Meeting with other officials
Earlier, Admiral Guiseppe Cavo Dragone also met the Chief of Air Staff, Pakistan Air Force Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmad Babur Sidhu, and acknowledged the Pakistan Military Forces.
According to the statement from Pakistan Air Force, during the meeting matters of regional security situation, mutual and professional interests with special emphasis on defense and security collaboration came under discussion.
Admiral Guiseppe vowed to enhance cooperation in various fields.
Furthermore, he said that these interactions have deepened the bilateral defense relationship, strengthened the cooperation, and enhanced mutual understanding between the two sides.
Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahman Sidhu reaffirmed the strong and long-lasting bilateral defense relations between Italy and Pakistan. Both officials agreed to further revitalize defense ties including training and indigenous production.
Subsequently, Chairman Joint Chief of Staff Committee General Nadeem Raza met with Admiral Guiseppe and mentioned that Pakistan-Italy relations are based on convergence on all important issues relating to peace, defense, and security.
Matters of mutual professional interests including further strengthening of security and defense cooperation specifically in the field of defense production came under consideration.
