Istanbul, 7 August 2024 (TDI): On Sunday, while strolling through Istanbul’s Beyoglu neighborhood, Indian Bollywood star Ashwath Bhatt was attacked by a robber.
At the time of the attack, the well-known actor from Sita Ramam and Raazi movies was vacationing in Turkiye.
A man carrying a chain approached Bhatt as he was heading to Galata Tower, a well-liked tourist destination on Istanbul’s European side.
“Before I realized what was going on, he gave me a back rub,” Bhatt remarked. He thinks that the attempt to steal his backpack was carried out by a gang.
Ashwath Bhatt fought back, shocking the attacker despite his shock.
Saying something in Turkish, the robber was forced to run away when a nearby cab driver interfered.

Bhatt was encouraged to report the event to the police by the driver.
The actor shared his disappointment on the attack and emphasized the need of travelers reporting crimes in order to stop such acts.
Bhatt said, “Turkey is romanticized a lot, but there is still need to address crime. These events will only get worse if we don’t report them.”
When Bhatt went up to a police patrol following the attack, he was told to go to the tourist police instead.
The procedure is still underway, therefore no formal complaint has been filed yet.
Due to this occurrence, tourists may be more vulnerable in large cities. As such, it is crucial to exercise caution and report crimes in order to protect oneself and others.
