Gaza, 26 October 2023 (TDI):  Israel’s military forces executed an overnight operation in Northern Gaza, strategically designed to pave the way for the next stage of combat, according to reports.

In an address last night, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu refrained from revealing the precise details of a prospective Israeli ground invasion into the Gaza Strip.

This operation occurred in the midst of intense international negotiations involving the release of hostages and the provision of humanitarian aid. U.S. officials have actively urged Israel to defer the incursion, recognizing the delicate situation in the region.

The United Nations agency responsible for Palestinian refugees has announced a significant reduction in its operations in Gaza due to nearly depleted fuel supplies, further exacerbating the humanitarian challenges faced by the region.

At the United Nations Security Council session held yesterday, two conflicting resolutions, one supported by the United States and the other by Russia, both aimed at calling for a temporary cessation of hostilities, were met with veto .

Consequently, the matter is scheduled to be taken up by the United Nations General Assembly today.

Israel’s military authorities have disclosed that, following the October 7 attack by the Palestinian militant group Hamas, they have successfully targeted and struck more than seven thousand sites inside Gaza as part of their ongoing bombing campaign.

The situation in the Gaza Strip remains highly volatile and subject to rapid developments. The international community continues to closely monitor the evolving situation, seeking ways to address the pressing humanitarian concerns and ongoing negotiations.
