Gaza (TDI): In the past 24 hours, Israeli forces have intensified their bombardment on Gaza, martyring at least 136 Palestinians, including women and children.
The attacks, which have drawn global condemnation, struck multiple residential areas, including a medical clinic in the Jabalia refugee camp.
Eyewitnesses to the Jabalia attack described harrowing scenes. Patients on the upper floor of the medical clinic were reportedly “torn apart” by the strikes, including children.
Medical workers and first responders have called the scene a “massacre” and continue to struggle with limited resources and deteriorating health infrastructure amid the blockade.
These latest attacks coincide with the 77th anniversary of Nakba Day—a day observed annually on May 15 to mark the mass displacement of Palestinians in 1948 during the creation of the Israeli state.

The term Nakba, meaning catastrophe in Arabic, refers to the forced expulsion of over 700,000 Palestinians from their homes and villages, many of whom sought refuge in Gaza, the West Bank, and neighboring countries.
As Palestinians around the world commemorate the Nakba, the tragedy of 1948 is echoed in today’s events, with thousands more being displaced, killed, or left injured in non-stop Israeli strikes.
Families in Gaza continue to endure severe humanitarian crises, compounded by the destruction of hospitals, schools, and essential civilian infrastructure.
According to the latest data, Israel’s ongoing war on Gaza has martyred at least 53,010 Palestinians and injured 119,919 since October 2023.
The death toll includes a large number of women, children, and elderly individuals, highlighting the disproportionate impact on civilian populations.

Human rights organizations and international observers have repeatedly raised alarms over potential violations of international law and the urgent need for humanitarian access.
The scale of devastation continues to mount, with repeated calls for an immediate ceasefire, protection of civilians, and accountability for actions targeting non-combatants.
As the world marks over seven decades since the Nakba, the situation in Gaza stands as a grim reminder of the unresolved conflict and the human cost of war.
