Islamabad, 3 August 2022 (TDI): Islamic Relief has lent support to relief efforts in flood-affected areas of Pakistan as the country is now facing exceptionally excessive rains, bringing in devastating flash flooding around the country.
Flash flooding in Pakistan has mostly affected Balochistan, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Punjab, destroying nearly 34,000 houses. Many people around the country require emergency aid. Moreover, many more are experiencing internal displacement.

According to the latest reports, 419 people have lost their lives, including 77 children. Also, roughly 500 others were injured in different areas of Pakistan. Furthermore, 150,000 individuals in Balochistan alone require immediate humanitarian aid. Whereas thousands of poor people are suffering internal displacement across the country.
The administration has determined that 977 kilometers of road infrastructure have been destroyed. Along with this, the recent flooding has damaged 61 bridges. Thus, it poses an even greater threat to the lives of thousands of people. Moreover, those who have moved internally are in much greater danger if they do not get immediate medical attention, food, clean water, and proper shelter.
Islamic Relief Efforts
The emergency teams of Islamic Relief are already on the field, collaborating in local areas to determine the best way to assist impacted families, who urgently require food, shelter, bedding, and hygiene goods.

Islamic Relief has plans to deliver cash handouts to 3,000 households in different regions of Balochistan, which they may utilize to meet their most basic requirements. The Islamic Relief staff also assists the local authorities with relief operations.
Islamic Relief also focuses on assisting areas in recovering from the tragedy as fast as possible. The purpose is to save vulnerable individuals from the horrific effects of severe flooding.
As the situation worsens, the charity is urgently looking to respond to fulfill the continuing and immediate needs of the affected people.
