Baghdad, 22 September 2021 (TDI): The Permanent Representative of the Republic of Iraq to United Nations Ambassador, Abdul Karim Hashim Mustafa, was elected the President of the Eleventh Conference of the States Parties to the Convention on the Prohibition of Cluster Munitions (CCM) for 2023-2022.
The representative of Iraq to the United Nations said that Iraq is one of the states that faces most cluster munitions remnant. Iraq’s aim is to work collaboratively and enthusiastically to attain the goals of the Lausanne Action Plan.
The Republic of Iraq took a seat in the Convention on the Prohibition of Cluster Munitions in 2013. With a total number of 110 states in the CCM, the Republic of Iraq can work with all international organizations, NGOs to stop the harmful impacts of cluster munitions on people.
