ISLAMABAD (TDI): Iran’s new President Masoud Pezeshkian accused Israel on Monday of seeking to ignite a broader regional war, positioning Tehran as a restrained actor while appealing to the West for dialogue on critical issues.
Speaking at a roundtable with journalists in New York during his visit to the United Nations, Pezeshkian stated, “We know more than anyone else that if a larger war were started in the Middle East, it will affect everyone the world.
Iran Accuses of Provoking Conflict
It is Israel that wants to create this wider conflict.”
In office since late July, Pezeshkian, a reformist leader, aims for improved relations with the West.

However, tensions have escalated, particularly following the assassination of a Hamas political chief in Tehran, an act widely attributed to Israel.
This incident has heightened concerns about retaliation from Iran.
“We tried to not respond,” he said, referencing unfulfilled promises of peace. Israel is killing more and more people including male, femal, young and children on daily basis, he said

When asked whether Iran would respond more directly to Israeli actions, he refrained from a definitive answer but emphasized the importance of defense, questioning, “If Hezbollah didn’t even do that minimum, who would defend them?”
