Iran’s Military Chief Thanks Pakistan in Call With COAS Munir

Islamabad (TDI):The Chief of Staff of Iran’s Armed Forces, Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi, on Sunday, called Chief of Army Staff of Pakistan, Field Marshal Asim Munir to thank Pakistan for its unwavering support during the recent crisis between Iran and Israel.

According to Iran’s state news agency, the Iranian Military Chief made these remarks during the telephone conversation with COAS Asim Munir.

Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi appreciated Pakistan’s “courageous stance” and solidarity during the crisis which Tehran labels as “12-day imposed war” started by Israel in an “act of unprovoked military aggression” with support from its Western allies. He also thanked the people of Pakistan for their “bold positions” in condemning Israel’s actions.

“The United States not only participated directly in the conflict but also mobilised its full military capacity to shield the Zionist regime from Iran’s retaliatory missile and drone attacks,” Mousavi was quoted as saying.

He also stated that the conflict led to several casualties including martyrdom of senior commanders. He also highlighted that Iran successfully countered the aggression through retaliatory strikes which forced the enemy to seek a ceasefire.

COAS Munir told his counterpart that Pakistan valued its enduring relations with Iran and underscored the significance of regional stability. Both officers agreed to maintain communication channels to promote peace and counter external threats.

The 12 day war between Iran and Israel started on June 13 when Israel attacked Iran’s senior military officials including the chief of the Revolutionary Guard Corps and nuclear scientists.

To which Tehran retaliated with ballistic missiles on cities of Israel. This crisis started on June 13, just days ahead of US-Iran planned talks on its nuclear program.

On June 22, the US attacked Iran and claimed to have destroyed Iran’s key nuclear facilities in Natanz, Fordow, and Isfahan. In response, Tehran launched strikes on American bases in Iraq and Qatar. The crisis ended with a ceasefire announced on June 24.

The Health Ministry of Iran says at least 627 civilians were killed and 4,900 injured during the war with Israel. Meanwhile Iran’s retaliatory missile attacks on Israel killed 28 people, Israeli authorities say.
