Chief of General Staff (CGS) of Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran Major General Mohammad Bagheri(L) meets COAS General Qamar at GHQ (R).

Rawalpindi, 14 October 2021 (TDI): Chief of General Staff (CGS) of Armed Forces of Iran, Major General Mohammed Bagheri, met Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Pakistan, General Qamar Javed Bajwa.

The visiting dignitary was presented Guard of Honor at GHQ, Rawalpindi.

The meeting took place on 13 October at General Headquarters (GHQ), Rawalpindi. CGS Mohammed Bagheri was accompanied by a high-level military delegation. A tri-service contingent presented ‘Guard of Honor’ to the visiting dignitary upon his arrival at GHQ. He laid florals at Yadgar-e-Shuhda in GHQ and prayed for the martyrs.

According to a statement issued by ISPR, the military’s media wing, the meeting boiled down to a discussion on regional security situation and developments in Afghanistan. Both sides also exchanged views on effective management of the Pak-Iran border.

Speaking on the occasion, COAS General Bajwa said collaboration between the armed forces of Pakistan and Iran is imperative for maintaining regional peace and stability. Likewise, CGS General Bagheri expressed desire to strengthen military ties between the two countries especially in the domains of counter-terrorism and training.

Moreover, during the delegation-level meeting, regional security dynamics came under discussion. The Iranian delegation was also briefed about Training Regime of Pakistan Army Pakistan; particularly its military cooperation with other countries and conduct of the joint military exercises.

 

In addition, both sides pledged to enhance bilateral defense collaboration. They agreed to enhance military cooperation for maintaining peace in the region and combating terrorism.

CGS Major General Mohammed Bagheri also held a meeting with Chairman Joint Chief of Staff Committee (JCSC), General Nadeem Raza.
