Tehran (TDI): Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian had to hail a taxi mid-journey after all three of his official vehicles broke down, reportedly due to bad fuel.
The incident occurred near Takestan in Qazvin province while the presidential convoy was en route to Tabriz. According to Mostafa Moulavi, who serves as the president’s special inspector, the cars stalled shortly after refueling at a gas station near the Rasht highway exit.
“The station had been supplying fuel mixed with water,” Moulavi said during a visit to local officials in Qazvin. “It wasn’t the first time either, this particular outlet has a record of violations.”

With his convoy out of commission, President Pezeshkian chose not to involve local authorities or seek assistance from the provincial government. Instead, he quietly arranged for a private taxi and continued the trip without ceremony.

“He didn’t alert the governor’s office or request help. He just got in a cab and moved on,” Moulavi noted.
The National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company (NIOPDC) has since acknowledged that complaints had been filed previously against the same gas station, mostly related to fuel quality. However, no clear reason was given for why it continued to operate.
