Iranian President discusses global challenges at UNGA

New York, 22 September 2023 (TDI): In his address to the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), the Iranian President discusses global challenges; Ebrahim Raisi emphasized the evolving international landscape and the need for a new world order.

He pointed out that the world is experiencing unprecedented changes and highlighted the importance of adhering to high values that promote human dignity and justice.

President Raisi emphasized the significance of the Quran as a source of guidance for rationality, spirituality, justice, morality, and truth.

Moreover, he highlighted the Quran’s core principles of monotheism, justice, and human dignity, stating that these principles can lead to a world of dignity and greatness.

During his address to the UNGA, the Iranian President discusses global challenges. Raisi also highlighted the challenges faced by the Muslim community, including cultural apartheid, burning of the Quran, and banning the hijab in schools.

He asserted that these actions do not align with the progress of modern society and called for respect for divine religions.

Regarding the family institution, President Raisi stated that it is under threat today and emphasized the importance of protecting the privacy of families and marriage.

He called for a global movement to defend the sanctity of the family and urged the United Nations to prioritize family values on its agenda.

President Raisi discussed the changing global order, highlighting that Western domination is no longer viable.

He called for regional orders and cooperation to replace global domination.

Iran’s leader emphasized the importance of economic and political cooperation within and between regions and expressed Iran’s interest in interacting with the world based on justice.

He criticized the efforts of some powers to create conflicts and divisions in different regions, noting that such actions are detrimental to the security and well-being of nations.

President Raisi also criticized the use of terrorism by Western governments as a tool of foreign policy, stating that it hinders the fight against terrorism in the region.

President Raisi addressed several regional issues, including the occupation of Palestine, the situation in Afghanistan, and the war in Ukraine.

He called for an end to the occupation of Palestinian land, expressed support for an inclusive government in Afghanistan, and emphasized the need to reject war as a solution to conflicts.

The Iranian and EU delegations emphasized the significance of ongoing discussions and the complete fulfillment of obligations within the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) by all participating parties.

The European representatives expressed satisfaction regarding recent agreements that resulted in the exchange of prisoners between Iran and the United States.

Additionally, they were updated on Iran’s cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and Iran’s evaluation of political negotiations with the European troika.

Furthermore, President Raisi expressed hope for a brighter future, stating that the world is waiting for a savior promised by divine religions.
