Tehran, 22 October 2023 (TDI): In a crucial meeting held on the sidelines of the emergency session of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) executive committee in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian met with the Secretary General of the OIC, Hissein Brahim Taha.
During the meeting, Amirabdollahian conveyed his gratitude to the OIC for convening the session and emphasized the urgency of halting the ongoing Israeli attacks on Gaza, providing immediate humanitarian aid to the beleaguered enclave, and addressing the displacement of the Gaza population.
He asserted that these critical issues needed to be at the forefront of the meeting’s agenda.

Furthermore, Amirabdollahian called for an immediate and complete embargo on Israel by Muslim nations, including the implementation of an oil embargo.
He emphasized the necessity of expelling ambassadors of the Israeli regime from countries that maintain relations with Israel.
Additionally, the Iranian Foreign Minister advocated for the establishment of a team of Islamic lawyers to support Palestine in documenting the war crimes committed by the Israeli regime.
This documentation is intended to pave the way for the prosecution of Israel’s war criminals and its supporters at international tribunals.
Regarding srael’s current actions in Gaza, especially the tragic events at Al-Mamdani Hospital, Amirabdollahian stressed the importance of pursuing the legal accountability of Zionist war criminals and their backers.
He urged the OIC to take this matter seriously and address it during the meeting in Jeddah.
In response, OIC Secretary General Hissein Brahim Taha expressed his appreciation for Iran’s unwavering and consistent support for Palestine.

He underscored the imperative need for unity among Muslim nations, particularly in addressing the Palestinian issue.
He characterized the attack on Al-Mamdani Hospital as a crime and called for the collective unity of Islamic nations to put an end to these atrocities.
Taha conveyed his gratitude for Amirabdollahian’s significant proposals and assured that the OIC would consider them as part of its commitment to resolving the ongoing crisis.
