Tehran, 30 September 2023 (TDI): Foreign Minister of Iran, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian & his Tanzanian counterpart, January Yusuf Makamba, engaged in a productive phone conversation focused on enhancing bilateral ties & discussing matters of mutual interest.

During the call, Minister Amir-Abdollahian extended warm congratulations to the Tanzanian government and the Muslim community in Tanzania on the occasion of the birth anniversary of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ).

He also offered his sincere congratulations to Minister Makamba on his appointment to the post of Tanzanian Foreign Minister.

Minister Amir-Abdollahian highlighted the deep-rooted historical relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Republic of Tanzania.

He emphasized the presence of diverse potential and opportunities in both nations and expressed Iran’s keenness to strengthen bilateral relations, particularly in the fields of economics, science, and technology.

In response, Minister Makamba expressed his gratitude for the warm wishes from his Iranian counterpart and reiterated Tanzania’s commitment to advancing its bilateral relations with Iran.

He emphasized that his country’s president has extended an invitation to Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi to visit Dar es Salaam, underlining Tanzania’s eagerness to bolster diplomatic ties.

During the course of their discussion, both Ministers touched upon the recent meeting between the presidents of their respective countries on the sidelines of the BRICS summit in South Africa.

They agreed on the importance of convening a joint commission between Iran and Tanzania in the near future to further strengthen cooperation and deepen the longstanding friendship between the two nations.
