Iran Receiving Russian Intelligence to Track US Forces: Report

Tehran (TDI): Russia is sharing intelligence with Iran that could help Tehran identify US military assets in the Middle East, according to a report by the The Washington Post citing officials familiar with the matter.

The information is said to include the locations of American warships and aircraft operating in the region.

Details about the scale of Moscow’s assistance remain unclear. However, the report suggests Iran’s own capability to track US forces has been weakened after recent strikes by the United States and Israel targeting sites in Iran last week.

Tensions have since intensified, with Iran carrying out retaliatory attacks and the confrontation gradually pulling in neighboring countries. Tehran appears to be trying to increase pressure on Washington, Tel Aviv, and their allies by raising the costs of the conflict.

Meanwhile, the US military confirmed that six reserve soldiers were killed in Kuwait after a drone struck a US military installation at Port Shuaiba. Officials in Washington, including US President Donald Trump, have warned that further American casualties could occur if the fighting continues.

A spokesperson for the White House did not directly address questions about the alleged Russian support. In a statement to Reuters, spokesperson Anna Kelly said Iran was suffering heavy losses, claiming the country’s missile attacks were declining, its naval capabilities were being severely damaged, and its production facilities were under pressure.

The Kremlin acknowledged that Russia remains in contact with Iranian leadership but declined to confirm whether any intelligence support is being provided.

Analysts note that the ongoing conflict may indirectly benefit Russia, as rising energy demand has increased interest in its oil and gas exports, which had been affected by sanctions imposed after the war in Ukraine. The US, for its part, has also supplied intelligence support to Ukraine during its war with Russia.
