Beirut, 2 September 2023 (TDI): Iranian Foreign Minister, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian visited Lebanon, where he held a significant meeting with leaders of Palestinian resistance groups, including Hamas and the Islamic Jihad.

During the meeting, both sides reiterated their commitment to the liberation of Palestine from Israeli occupation.

Foreign Minister Amir-Abdollahian, leading a political delegation, emphasized the evolving dynamics of the international system, highlighting the emergence of new global actors.

He stated that while the United States (US) sought to maintain its hegemony, it was increasingly evident that America’s influence was waning, and the region acknowledged the resilience and strength of the resistance movements.

He further underlined Iran’s unwavering support for the Palestinian people and the resistance. The Iranian Foreign Minister emphasized the growing recognition of the resistance’s pivotal role in the region and Palestine, particularly by Western nations.

He stressed the importance of unity among the various Palestinian resistance groups in defending Palestine and opposing the Israeli occupation, emphasizing that their collective action had bolstered the resistance’s strength.

The Foreign Minister of Iran also reiterated Iran’s strong support for the establishment of a united Palestinian state encompassing all historical Palestine, with Jerusalem (Noble Quds) as its capital.

He noted that this support was in alignment with the continuous emphasis of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, on the significance of supporting the resistance.

Amir-Abdollahian concluded by stating that supporting the resistance constituted the essence of Iran’s foreign policy.
