Iran to Pursue Diplomacy to Counter Sanctions, Safeguard National Interests: Araghchi

Tehran (TDI): Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has said Tehran will continue to pursue diplomatic channels to protect its national interests and defend its rights amid ongoing international challenges, according to Iran’s state news agency IRNA.

Araghchi made the remarks during a meeting with representatives of Tehran Province in Iran’s parliament on Monday, as part of continuing consultations between the legislature and the Foreign Ministry on foreign policy and national security.

During the meeting, the foreign minister briefed lawmakers on recent regional and international developments and outlined the ministry’s principal measures and initiatives aimed at safeguarding Iran’s interests.

He said the Foreign Ministry was working through diplomatic avenues to defend Iran’s rights and interests at both the national and international levels, IRNA reported on Tuesday.

The consultations reflect continued coordination between Iran’s diplomatic establishment and parliament on issues affecting the country’s foreign relations and security environment.

Iran has faced extensive international sanctions, particularly from the United States, over disputes involving its nuclear program and other policy issues. Tehran has repeatedly opposed what it considers unilateral restrictions and maintained that diplomacy remains an important means of defending its interests.
