Iran promotes cooperation among ACD members

Tehran, 29 August 2023 (TDI): Iranian Foreign Minister, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, has reaffirmed Tehran’s commitment to enhancing collaboration among members of the Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) during its upcoming presidency.

The ACD, a continental platform established in 2002, aims to foster cooperation and synergy among Asian nations without duplicating existing organizations.

Amir-Abdollahian’s remarks came during a meeting with the Secretary General of the ACD, Pornchai Danvivathana, held in Tehran.

The Foreign Minister expressed Iran’s determination to facilitate the realization of the ACD’s objectives while bolstering cooperation within the forum.

Iran’s presidency will commence following the ACD’s foreign ministerial meeting, scheduled to take place in September on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly’s annual gathering.

As part of its efforts to strengthen ties within the ACD, Iran also extended its support to the Kuwait-based ACD secretariat.

The secretariat plays a pivotal role in promoting cooperation among member nations.

Additionally, Iran expressed its willingness to assist the ACD Cultural and Tourism Coordination Center, headquartered in Tehran, in furthering its mission.

With a focus on consolidating Asia’s competitive advantage, the ACD seeks to establish a robust foundation for cooperation, avoiding duplication and fostering unity among nations.
