ISLAMABAD September 06, 2024 (TDI):The Iranian Ambassador to Pakistan, Reza Amiri Moghadam, has extended heartfelt congratulations to the people and government of Pakistan on the occasion of Defense Day, which will be observed tomorrow (Friday).
In a message shared on Embassy social media platforms X and Facebook, Ambassador Moghadam stated: “As the great nation of Pakistan celebrates its Defense Day (Yaum-i-Difa) on September 6th, I extend my sincere and warmest felicitations to the Armed Forces, Government, and people of Pakistan on this significant occasion.”
He emphasized the deep appreciation the Islamic Republic of Iran has for its brotherly relationship with Pakistan and expressed a hope that the bond of friendship between the two nations will continue to strengthen. “I also pay tribute to the Pakistani Shuhadas who have bravely defended their motherland,” he added.
Defense and Martyrs Day, observed on Friday, honors the martyrs and Ghazis and reaffirms the nation’s resolve to defend against all threats.
The day commemorates the events of September 6, 1965, when Indian forces crossed the international border under the cover of night to attack Pakistan.
The nation’s armed forces successfully repelled the aggression, thwarting the enemy’s plans.

The legacy of exceptional bravery and sacrifice by Pakistan’s military began with Captain Raja Muhammad Sarwar Shaheed (Nishan-e-Haider) in the 1948 Kashmir War and continued with Major Aziz Bhatti Shaheed (Nishan-e-Haider) in the 1965 war, Major Shabbir Sharif Shaheed (Nishan-e-Haider) in the 1971 War, and Captain Karnal Sher Khan Shaheed (Nishan-e-Haider) and Havaldar Lalak Jan Shaheed (Nishan-e-Haider) during the Kargil War in 1999.
