Shanghai, 7 September 2024 (TDI): SoftBank, which owns Arm’s most recent V9 chip design, was used in the development of Apple’s most recent iPhone, which features the A18 processor and is scheduled to be unveiled on Monday at an event.
On September 9, Apple will hold its fall event at its Cupertino, California headquarters. There, it is expected to reveal a number of new iPhone models along with updates for other gadgets and applications.
A partnership that “extends beyond 2040” was signed by Apple and Arm in September of last year, which helped Arm’s semiconductor technology.
In July, Arm declared that 50% of smartphone sales come from their V9 processor.
Arm licenses Apple and numerous other companies to use its intellectual property, which is the driving force behind the majority of smartphones worldwide.
In order to create its own unique semiconductors for its iPhones, iPads, and Macs, Apple employs technology from Arm.

The history of the two businesses is lengthy: before the launching of its “Newton” portable computer, which had an Arm-based CPU chip in 1993, Apple was among the first businesses to collaborate to form the company in 1990.
Though the Arm chip failed to take off, its low power consumption helped prolong battery life, and it went on to become a market leader in mobile phone chips.
