Islamabad (TDI): The Institute of Peace and Diplomatic Studies (IPDS), in collaboration with the National Language Promotion Department (NLPD) and the Turkiye-Azerbaijan-Pakistan Friendship Forum (TAPF), hosted a book launch ceremony to unveil “Rajab Tayyab Erdogan: Tiger of the Islamic World”, authored by Dr. Furqan Hameed.
Dr. Hameed did a Ph. D in Turkish Language and Literature from Ankara University, in 1993, becoming the first Pakistani to hold the doctorate. He has years of journalistic experience to his credit and has accompanied state-level delegations, offering his expertise in language translation.
He was the first Pakistani who was the adviser of Turkish president Abdullah Gül during his visit to Pakistan in 2008. Having lived in Turkiye for years, Dr. Hameed is well-versed in the subject he chose to write about. He is well-regarded for his work in international journalism and has written extensively on political leadership in the Muslim world.
The book launch event was held at the National Language Promotion Department’s auditorium, and brought together prominent dignitaries, scholars, and members of the diplomatic, media, and literary communities.
Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Attaullah Tarar, attended the event as the Chief Guest. The Ambassador of Turkiye to Pakistan, Dr. Irfan Neziroglu, joined as the Guest of Honor.
The book pays tribute to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, profiling his leadership, political vision, and his role as a unifying figure in the Islamic world.
In his keynote address, Minister Attaullah Tarar called the launch of the book commendable, and appreciated the author for presenting Islamic civilization in an apt manner.
He also noted that relations between Pakistan and Turkiye reached a new dimension during the reign of Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who is a principled politician and a great friend of Pakistan.
“I salute Recep Tayyip Erdogan for raising the voice of the Muslims of Gaza and Palestine at every forum,” he added.
Dr. Furqan Hameed shared his experience researching and writing the book, highlighting President Erdogan’s resilience and vision amid regional and global challenges. He noted that the title “Tiger of the Islamic World” reflects the admiration Erdogan commands among Muslims worldwide for his outspoken advocacy on key international issues.
Writing about his book in the Daily news publication Jung earlier, Dr. Hameed said: “This book not only gives a glimpse of the political insight, global leadership and love for Islam of the great leader of Turkey, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, but also describes the growing closeness, spiritual harmony, defense cooperation and cultural unity between Pakistan and Turkey in a very heartwarming way.”
