The Ambassador of Indonesia has been serving in Pakistan for the past 1.5 years. Pakistan and Indonesia have had strong ties that are based on respect and cooperation both locally and internationally.

In 1950, Pakistan and Indonesia forged a diplomatic alliance. One of Pakistan’s top 10 trading partners is Indonesia. The two nations’ trade relations have advanced significantly, with Indonesia now ranking as Pakistan’s eighth-largest trading partner.

Pakistan and Indonesia work closely together to back each other’s bids at the international forum. Both are participants in international and multilateral organizations such as the UN, OIC, NAM, G-77, Afro-Asian Conference, and D-8.

In areas of international and regional significance, like nuclear non-proliferation and disarmament, there is harmony and close cooperation between the two nations.

The Afro-Asian Conference was founded by Pakistan, Indonesia, India, Myanmar, and Sri Lanka. Indonesia backs Pakistan’s application for Full Dialogue Partner Status in ASEAN. Additionally, Indonesia backed Pakistan’s bid to join the UNHRC for the period 2021–2023.

Since the PTA came into force in 2013, trade relations with Indonesia have come a long way. Bilateral trade increased from US$466.5 million in 2004 to about US$2.6 billion in 2020, with the trade balance greatly in favor of Indonesia.

There is plenty of room for further expansion of the deal in the coming years. Talking about Indonesia, he said that Bali; the city of Indonesia is an important interaction for tourism between Pakistan and Indonesia.

The Ambassador recently visited the city of Peshawar in Pakistan and was very impressed with the generosity and hospitality of the people. Both countries have similarities in culture and history.

The Ambassador congratulated the organizers for hosting this important public diplomacy school and would like to commend them for their tireless efforts to make this program possible.
